About this site
I realised after finishing my PhD that I’d accumulated a lot of knowledge, stuff that made me think “I wish someone had told me that when I started”. I also realised that I had no way to pass on what I’d learned, short of talking to each individual student that came through my lab. There are some bits of advice online, but most of it resides on individual lab websites in an unstructured mass. That’s why I started PhDadvice.com
PhDadvice.com is a site containing practical advice for PhD students, undergraduates and people with careers in research. I cover topics that are relevant to any working in a research environment:
- presenting your work
- writing effectively
- collaborating with other workers
- managing your time
It also covers useful software and web tools that are likely to be useful to a range of readers.
